55 minute guided tour of Roseland Cottage, the summer home of Lucy and Henry Bowen and their family of ten children. Bowen, publisher of an influential abolitionist newspaper, entertained friends and political connections, including four U.S. presidents at Roseland Cottage. Known for its pink exterior, Roseland Cottage has an equally intriguing interior, featuring family furnishings, elaborate wall coverings, heavily patterned carpets, and stained glass, much of which survives unchanged from the Victorian era. The estate includes a parterre garden, icehouse, aviary, barn, and the nation’s oldest surviving bowling alley. Return to Roseland Cottage info page.
