Victorian Furniture: Design Run Amok or Inspired Creativity?

Description

Thursday, January 14, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.

For decades, designers and tastemakers have reviled Victorian furniture. In this online talk, Senior Curator of Collections Nancy Carlisle presents an illustrated lecture exploring the highs and lows of Victorian furniture design and suggests that its bad rap has more to do with late nineteenth-century attitudes than with the quality of the furniture itself.

This presentation supports the Lyman Estate Library Preservation Project. Donations are welcome.
