Homeschool Program: Life as a Loyalist: Jonathan Sayward in York

Description

Thursday, June 11, 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Sayward Wheeler House, 9 Barrell Lane Ext, York, ME

Participants will learn about the thorny history of Jonathan Sayward, who was both a prominent and respected member of the community, and loyal to Great Britain during the American Revolution. After examining the lives and choices of Sayward and others in his household, including Prince, an enslaved man who enlisted in the Continental Army, participants will be prompted to think about where their own loyalties may have lain and to create an artwork expressing their decision.

*Note: Due to the size of the house, this program is strictly limited to 12 participants. If there is demand, we will add a second session in the afternoon.

Member $25; Nonmember $35.  Log in or Join now to have your discount applied at checkout.
