Description

Monday, April 21, 10:00 a.m. -  2:00p.m.
Codman Estate, 34 Codman Road, Lincoln, MA

Historic New England and Lincoln 250 invite you walk Lincoln’s trails and visit two of its properties in Lincoln, Massachusetts: The Codman Estate, home to five generations of the Chambers/Russell/Codman family and The Walter Gropius House, home to a revolutionary architect.

Begin your visit at the 18th century Codman Estate that, at the time of the Revolutionary War, was owned by Loyalists, Dr. Charles and Elizabeth Russell, who fled to Antigua when the war began. Then walk Lincoln's two mile historic conservation trails with wayfinding signs from the Codman Estate to the Gropius House to explore another revolution! Walter Gropius, founder of the German design school known as the Bauhaus, was one of the most influential architects of the 20th century. Modest in scale and planned for maximum efficiency and simplicity of design, the 1938 Gropius family home was revolutionary in impact.

These two remarkable properties will be open to the public from 10:00am to 2:00pm on Monday, April 21, 2025.  Docents will be on site to share information and answer questions.

Free.

Please call 617-994-6651 for more information.
