The Importance of Being Furnished Curators Reception at Codman Estate
Sunday, September 15, 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.
Codman Estate, 34 Codman Road, Lincoln, Mass.
The Historic New England exhibition The Importance of Being Furnished: Four Bachelors at Home tells the stories of four historic house museums and their creators, examining the pioneering role of the “bachelor aesthete” in historic preservation, collecting, and professional interior design.
Join Guest Curator and author Tripp Evans for a reception under the Codman Estate arbor with light refreshments followed by an open house exploration of the mansion’s interior design highlights. The Codman Estate (c. 1740) in Lincoln, Massachusetts, was home to five generations of the Codman family and redecorated in its Colonial Revival style by architect Ogden Codman, Jr. (1863-1951), who features in The Importance of Being Furnished: Four Bachelors at Home exhibition at the Eustis Estate.
