Virtual Program - Home Work: Domestic Servants at the Codman Estate

Description

Monday, December 9, 7:00 p.m.

Parlor maids, chambermaids, cooks, caretakers, and chauffeurs: meet specific individuals who served on the Codman Estate. Some employees remained for a season or two, while others stayed for decades, including Watson Tyler, the indispensable coachman and estate manager; Reine Lucas, nanny and later a lady’s maid; and Dr. Philip Place, who chauffeured for the Codmans while attending medical school. Explore the Codman House domestic experience from their point of view from cellar to attic.
