Dirt Detectives Virtual Program
Students learn what it takes to be an archaeologist as they participate in work at a mock dig site. They will learn how to use primary source documents to identify the best place to dig, how to clear away soil and unearth objects, and what types of materials they are most likely to find. As the program progresses, they will realize that digging is just one part of an archaeologist’s job, and that processing, identifying, and researching the significance of objects to the site are also critically important. Recommended for students from third grade through high school.
